Is there anything Beyoncé can’t do? Along with winning a stunning 32 Grammy awards in her lifetime for her incredible music career, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter announced on Instagram this Tuesday that she has launched a new line of whiskey, in partnership with Moët Hennessy. The whiskey line, named SirDavis, is a nod to the singer’s great-grandfather — whose first name was Davis — as well as her son Sir.
The whiskey is an 88 Proof American Rye Whiskey, served in a gorgeous beveled bottle with a gold horse emblem on the front. She crafted the whiskey with Dr. Bill Lumsden, the five-time winner of the International Whiskey Competition Master Distiller of the Year. The website describes the whiskey as a complex rye, married with “the elegance of malted barley.” It is finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, with a “harmony of spice with sublime hints of fruit.”
On the SirDavis website, Beyoncé also has a letter penned to Davis Hogue, a moonshiner during the Prohibition era in the American South, which says “I feel you in the landscapes. Your laughter rolling in the rye. What songs did you sing? What gaps did you fill? Great-grandfather, did you dream of me? Your legacy is a force that drives me. For you, I raise my glass to legacy.”
Beyoncé recently posted about the whiskey on her Instagram, using lyrics from her song “Bodyguard” with a caption that says “Davis in my bones.” She’s holding a glass of that iconic whiskey in her hand and provides a link to the SirDavis website. The website also includes a variety of cocktail recipes to make with her whiskey, including a Honey Bee, a Texas Buckiin’, a Davis Old Fashioned, a SirDavis Sour, a Houston, a Whiskey Lemonade, a Brown Derby, and more. The bottle is 750 milliliters and retails at $89.99. You can order a bottle on the SirDavis website, which is expected to ship starting on September 4, 2024.
