Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) endorsed Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), President-elect Trump’s choice to serve as ambassador to the United Nations (UN).

“Always was a hard YES for @EliseStefanik but it was a pleasure to have a conversation,” Fetterman said in Wednesday’s post on X following the meeting with the House GOP conference chair.

“I support defunding UNRWA for its documented Hamas infiltration and fully look forward to her holding the @UN accountable for its endemic antisemitism and blatant anti-Israel views,” he added, referring to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, the aid agency supply aid for Palestinian refugees.

Stefanik, who Trump announced as his pick for the UN ambassador role last month, thanked Fetterman for a “very productive” meeting where, she said, they talked about “our shared commitment to standing with Israel and combating antisemitism.”

“Senator Fetterman shared his ideas for strong national security leadership, and I highlighted my ideas on implementing President @realDonaldTrump’s America First peace through strength national security agenda,” Stefanik wrote Wednesday on X.

The Pennsylvania senator has expressed support for other Trump’s Cabinet nominees and appointees. In November, Fetterman said he would vote to confirm his fellow Senate colleague, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who Trump tapped to be his Secretary of State.

Later that month, the junior Senator doubled down on his openness to support some of Trump’s picks during his “Fox News Sunday” appearance, saying he was “not sure” why that would be controversial.

He said that he never committed to backing Dr. Mehmet Oz, who Trump intends to nominate as the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), arguing he does not have “any kind of bitterness.”

“I’m open to a dialog, hear what he has to say about these things,” Fetterman said. “I’m not sure why that’s controversial.”

“I’m going to have an open conversation for anyone that I’m open to having part of that conversation,” he added.
