Greg Berlanti, the producer behind CW’s Arrowverse as well as Riverdale, You, and Dead Boy Detectives (and many, many other projects) is now behind a television adaptation of the 2020 Stillwater comic book series from Chip Zdarsky, Ramón K. Perez, and Mike Spicer.
According to Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios picked up the horror thriller project and has already given it a series order. Berlanti is co-writing the scripts along with Watchmen alum Carly Wray. Skybound Entertainment, the company behind The Walking Dead, is producing.
The comics center on the town of Stillwater, a place where nobody dies. That isn’t a good thing, however, and one could even say it’s a threat (the blurb for the first volume of the series, for instance, does just that). The series put out by Image Comics starts out by following a man named Daniel West, who returns to Stillwater, a place where no one dies, and has a less-than-happy homecoming there.
The project is only one of three projects Berlanti is currently spearheading—the other two are the mystery series Foster Dade at Hulu, and a family drama at Max. Given that Stillwater appears to have only recently gotten the green light from Amazon, there’s no news yet on who will star in the show, much less when it will premiere on Prime Video.
