Into the woods! Into the woods! Or maybe, uh, not so much? The latest trailer for Prime Video’s Gen V, a spinoff of The Boys, teases a little more than just troubled supes at college. There are secrets! There are evil people! And there’s a kid who really, really doesn’t want to go back to the woods.
Wonder what happened there?
“The one thing that is really apparent now,” says Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), “is that we are all fucked up.” One of the many images shown as she says this is of her shrinky-dink roommate, Emma Meyer (Lizzie Broadway), climbing out of the blood-filled ear of a dead person, so yeah, I’d say she’s not wrong about that.
On the other hand, she’s totally wrong about one of the nicknames Andre Anderson (Sinclair’s Sabrina co-star Chance Perdomo) comes up with for her bloody superpowers. “Coagula” is hilarious.
Amazon’s summary has a lot of words but says little:
Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?
Along with Sinclair, Perdomo, and Broadway, Gen V stars Clancy Brown, Jason Ritter, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, Marco Pigossi. The Boys stars Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and P.J. Byrne also show up.
Gen V comes from creator Eric Kripke and showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. Begin your matriculation at Godolkin University on September 29th.
