Former President Trump maintains a lead over President Biden in a hypothetical matchup, a new survey found.

Trump has 49 percent of support among registered voters while Biden has 43 percent, according to the CNN survey, which was conducted by SSRS. These results have remained roughly unchanged from the previous two CNN surveys conducted in January and last fall.

Trump had 49 percent of support in the previous two CNN surveys, while Biden had 45 percent.

Both leading candidates in the 2024 presidential election, however, received high shares of unfavorable views from voters in the latest polling. Fifty-eight percent of voters had an unfavorable view of Biden while 55 percent had an unfavorable view of Trump.

Seventeen percent of voters said they had unfavorable views of both Biden and Trump.

The poll also showed other negative news for the Biden campaign, with 55 percent of respondents saying they viewed Trump’s presidency as a success while 39 percent said the same of Biden’s.

Trump took to social media to weigh in on the poll.

“GOOD POLL NUMBERS, FROM CNN OF ALL PLACES, AGAINST THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES (BY FAR!),” he wrote on Truth Social.

The CNN poll was conducted among 1,212 respondents, including 967 registered voters, on April 18-23 and has a margin of sampling error of 3.4 percentage points.

Other national polls show a close race between Biden and Trump. The Hill/Decision Desk’s national polling average shows Trump narrowly leading with 45.3 percent of support compared to Biden’s 44.7 percent.
