Jennifer Garner, who recently reprised her role as Elektra in Deadpool and Wolverine (pictured above in 2005’s Elektra) and starred in the series The Last Thing He Told Me, is heading to outer space.
Deadline broke the news today that she’ll be starring in a sci-fi drama with the working title of Zygote, which is an adaptation of a short story by Alyssa Hill.
Here’s the official synopsis, per Deadline:
The film centers on Parisa (Garner), an elite crisis negotiator who is sent 254 miles from Earth as a response to hostages on the International Space Station. Due to the unexpected nature of the expedition, Parisa quickly realizes this could be her final mission, as she is forced to confront the limits of her life’s work alongside her own mortality.
The premise is intriguing, especially when one considers the working title and how that potentially fits into the plot (assuming it does, of course, fit in in some way).
Hill, whose other credits includes writing the original script for The Housewife, an upcoming film about a reporter who tracks down a potential Nazi officer in Queens, is also on board to pen Zygote‘s script.
The movie comes from production houses Pinky Promise (The Last Showgirl) and Linden Productions (Family Switch). No news yet on who will direct the film, much less when it will launch its way to a theater near you.
